Its a little light..but I dont think it looks horrible on her. I think it would have been cute a tad more golden or darker. It looks pretty healthy for her hair to have been lifted that light (unless there are some tracks in there) Yall know I LOVE color. It adds personality to hair. Everyone has their ways to add personality to their hair whether its accessories, a certain cut, or color. I choose to use color to do that so I don’t get bored with my hair. I personally don’t want to walk around looking like every other person–hence I get tired of alot of the celebs and entertainers all rocking waist length hair. It gets boring if everyone else is walking around with the same do. Alot of people have been commenting on the number of African American celebs going blonde. I don’t see what the big deal is in them doing what they want to their hair. I hear people say ” blonde doesnt compliment black people”….NEWS FLASH- black people come in all skin tones so how can someone say that. There are several shades of blonde and there are different colors that go with the million different shades of black people. Not to mention black people that are born with blonde hair. Does it not compliment them too?

Willow Smith’s new track “Whip My Hair”

I heard this song this morning and thought it was too cute. I didn’t know what to expect but the Smith’s are very talented, so I should’ve known she could sing. She really sounds good and I know the video is going to be super cute. Funny thing is, I could hear this song in the club…for real with girls whipping their hair back and forth. This is a perfect track for Willow because she is ALL about her hair- I see her with a different hairstyle every time I see her pics lol. Check out the song. It’s cute.

Halley’s Curls Candy Curls

YAY! So I am so happy and excited that I won some hair from Halley’s Curls on Twitter. They asked for ideas for contests to give away hair…so I tweeted them with an idea and they basically said that the real contest was the first person to tweet an idea wins!! How awesome is that?!! I have been itching to try Halley’s Curls for awhile now- I have been eyeing Creole Curly and Creole Wavy. They ended up just introducing a new hair type called “Candy Curls” and I won that! The hair is GORGEOUS! Let me tell you….so serious! The hair is so pretty and I am so excited to try it out and get my Protective Styling on. My hair definitely needs a break. I wanted to show yall some pics of the hair out the pack.

So this is what it looks like out the pack, but as always, you need to wash the hair to see the true texture so its not so “perfect, perfect” curls and looks more realistic. When washed, it looks like this…

So right now, I am debating getting the hair dyed or not…at least a couple of tracks to match my hair and then the rest can be dark brown so it can resemble my hair thats on the bottom…or just putting a rinse on my hair to get it to match the dark brown hair…so confused on what to do!?! I’m going to leave a small horseshoe out and the perimeter of my hair so I can pull it back if I want to. I plan to get it installed within the next 3 weeks and am super excited. I know this hair is going to look good. Since it is cooling down, I shouldn’t have an issue with blending. I will straighten my hair and then use rods to mimic the same curls. Of course I will keep you all posted on the install. ttys

So I found out via Twitter (gotta love Twitter) that I am in Essence this month. Page 72. I saw a twitpic of it because I had no idea I was going to be in Essence nor do I know where they got this pic from because I didn’t post it. So if you subscribe then you may already have this October issue–if not, I don’t think you can purchase until next week or so. I’ll be checking the stands since my subscription JUST ran out. It is a pic from an event I went to a couple of weeks ago.

My twist on Two Strand Twists

After doing a wash and go, turned into a twist out – Meaning I originally had a Wash & Go and then twisted my hair everynight and took it out in the morning- I was so ready for something new and something that would last me a week or so and still look good. Best bet…two strand twist. I do flat twists on the sides…and small twists throughout. In the front horseshoe, I planned to do something a little different but by the time I got to it, it ended up being even larger twists than the twists in the back. :Sigh: My fingers get tired from twisting. This actually saved me about 30 minutes because I did flat twist on the sides…made my day much easier but I STILL was tired and didn’t do the top like I would have liked it. Here are pics.

Okay so the top is busted.. Please don’t laugh lol …I need to redo the top half asap!! I got so tired so I did them all big and they look so bad

So thats all! I will re-do the top half tonight.

Ouidad Double Detangler Review

I LOVE IT!

Point blank. It definitely detangled my hair and soooo cut down the time for my detangle days. It actually makes it easier for my next detangle days as well. Because I have alot of hair, the comb does kinda get heavy towards the end but its because I have ALOT of hair. I actually don’t even see it as being heavy until towards the end if that makes sense.

All in all, the comb definitely helped me out moreso than my Paddle Brush and Denman. I still love my denman to clump, but definitely LOVE the Ouidad Double Detangler to detangle the hair. I wanted to use it for a couple of weeks before doing a review. Each time, it never failed me. I most likely will do a video review soon too. Things have been kind of busy lately.

Job Interview style- Curly or Straight?

When you have a job interview, how do you wear your hair? You hear alot of people say to not wear your hair in its natural state. Some people don’t care and feel like people should accept them how they are. We all know, we can not care as much as we want, but unfortunately, it could decide whether we get a job or not. Look at Six Flags and American Apparel..Six Flags has it in their rules that state you can’t wear locs…American Apparel- its been said they prefer curl heads over straight or relaxed heads. At the end of the day, I do believe that it could make or break a job interview. They could be in love with it, or think it is unruly. How do you do your hair when you go for an interview? Does it depend on the type of job you are going for?

When I was in school, I took a Leadership class at Morehouse and they taught us basically to step into your career the way they want you to be….and as you move on up the ladder, you can change more into how you ARE. I agree with that, especially in the corporate world. Yes, it sucks!…but sometimes you have to play the game- the hair, the walk, the talk.

Do you think in 2010 that we are at the point where it doesn’t matter to wear your hair curly or straight? Have you experienced discrimination because of your hair? I just wanted some other’s opinions.

ETA (Edited to Add) Sidenote: I met a Professor at Clark Atlanta University and she told me about a student who had natural hair. She went into the Career Fair on campus with her hair in her natural state. No one wanted to talk to her and barely read her resume. She came back the next day with her hair straightened and got a totally different response. That is so sad. Its like that though…I’m happy that not everyone has that experience or has to worry about their hair but it definitely is still an issue in 2010

Troy Polamalu’s Hair insured for $1million

I knew that Troy Polamalu’s hair was going to get him more than fines for every football game for having his hair so long. He has the best hair of any man I have ever seen. His hair is 3 feet long and has the prettiest ringlets . He now has an endorsement with Head and Shoulders who insured his hair for 1 million dollars.

I sooo thought this was a weave here but I guess its just like any other curly hair. You can use gel and such to control it (as in not to swell) or you just let it air dry naturally and it swells up.

Tress Talk Event at Glam Bar

Tress Talk had an event at Glam Bar this evening. They had cocktails and light snacks as we got to see several natural ladies in ATL including tons of bloggers and vloggers. They performed demos on hair models and showed ladies how to two strand twist, finger style hair, and easy transitioning styles as people gathered around to watch and ask questions.

“Atlanta is quickly becoming the top city for curly girls, it’s not really an underground movement anymore,” states Sheronda Campbell, one-third of the Tress Talk crew. “Sporting a fly natural style has become just as commonplace as rocking a weave or straight style. Women are no longer “afraid” of their hair.” Accurately called “Tress Therapists” Campbell is joined by the remaining members of the trio, BET.com Beauty Editor, Kimberly Walker, and veteran natural hair consultant Benita Sokari Brown. These three “Curly Girls” have over fifteen years of multi-textural styling and product knowledge.

There were so many beautiful ladies in attendance and it was so great to see so many different hairstyles! Had a blast with all the ladies.
